Mapable Address to the Lake 16 Development: 20451 Sinnes Rd, Mt Vernon, WA 98274
Lake 16 is located in the Conway School District. -- Phone: 360-445-5785
Remarks from the Web Site Creator -- The Conway School has an exceptional reputation. While researching the area for web site content, I heard many times that families move to this school district specifically to get their kids enrolled in this school. Considering it is only Preschool starting at age 3--then Kindergarten through 8th Grade, whatever it is--must be pretty impressive. I heard this so many times that I called the school and spoke to the principal to ask what it is about the school that parents will sell homes and move to the area so their kids can attend this school...
The principal said that the school district and staff not only believe in diversity and inclusion, they walk the talk. There are many children enrolled with diverse backgrounds, cultures, beliefs, abilities--and children with special needs. Many parents ask the school for special accomodations of various types, and The Conway School District and staff bend over backwards to help, many times going above and beyond what is expected. Also reported is that students that struggled before going to Conway, begin to improve and excel there.
From reviewing the Conway School web site it is clear they care deeply about child education, diversity, inclusion and equity, I spent an hour and was amazed at the number of and variety of programs they offer. The district not only teaches students, they help families of enrolled students. Being a small district, it is easier to identify and help families in need. They not only have programs to help homeless families, or even families that lack a regular, fixed, and adequate nighttime residence, and families with food insecurity, they identify "Highly Capable" students that have unique intellectual, social, emotional, and college/career readiness needs. They can provide appropriate educational programs and services through instructional, curricular, and administrative modifications to create educational opportunities that will maximize their individual potential.
If you have young children age 3 through 13 or are planning to start a family, I urge you to go to their web site and in the yellow horizontal menu, click School, look at the list, then click Student Services. That is just the beginning of the dozens of outstanding programs for students and families that are enrolled there.
The student population of Conway School is 468, made up of 49% female students and 51% male students. The school enrolls 18% economically disadvantaged students; 53% of students scored at or above the proficient level for math, and 62% scored at or above that level for reading. The school’s minority student enrollment is 16%. The student-teacher ratio is 19. There are 25 equivalent full-time teachers and 1 full-time school counselor.
I just wanted to pass along what I learned, I hope it is useful to you!
